JD Sports Fashion has transferred the ownership of DTLR Villa, a Baltimore-based retailer, to a U.S. sub-group, Genesis Topco, in which it holds a controlling stake of 80 percent. The balance is in the hands of the four Mersho brothers who previously sold another American sports retailer, Shoe Palace, to JD. JD Sports acquired DTLR in February for $495 million. Genesis Topco thus manages both chains. In a similar move, JD had previously transferred its ownership in two Dutch sporting goods chains to its Spanish-based joint venture, the Iberian Sports Retail Group.
