Decathlon has updated its climate commitments based on the Science Based Target (SBT) initiative, which it has recognized as a contribution to limiting the global temperature increase by 1.5 degrees centrigrade. In this context, the French sporting goods manufacturer and retailer is committed to reducing its total CO² emissions for Scopes 1 and 2 (direct and indirect emissions linked to buying electricity) by 75 percent and to persuading its key suppliers to set their own science-based targets by 2024. These targets are supported by a group-wide intensity target aimed at reducing CO² emissions per product sold by 40 percent between 2016 and 2026 for all company activities (Scopes 1, 2 and 3 - direct and indirect emissions that come from all company activities, including extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, use and end of life cycle, etc.).
