The Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman has ordered Anton Sport, the Norwegian high-end sporting goods retailer, to pay a fine of 800,000 Norwegian krone (€88,482.8-$97,763.4) for breach of marketing laws. According to a local newspaper, Dagens Næringsliv (DN), the reason for the penalty was that the chain announced a 20 percent discount on five new 2016 models of Cannondale bikes, but failed to disclose their comparable base prices. Anton Sport claims that the five models in the 2016 campaign had the same performances as last year's models. This reasoning, however, was not accepted by the Consumer Ombudsman since last year's outgoing models had a lower market price toward the end of the season.
