Trek Bicycle has bought the WorldTour license of RadioShack-Leopard to create a new pro cycling team debuting in the 2014 cycling season. Leopard has been the holding company of the team's license since the summer of 2010. Trek plans to keep a large part of the existing staff, including the current general manager Luca Guercilena, who will continue to oversee the team's operations. Radioshack Leopard Trek will operate under the current management throughout the remainder of 2013. The American bicycle producer is currently engaged in negotiations with several marquee athletes whose names will be announced shortly. The current athletes on the team include the Swiss cycling star Fabian Cancellara, this year's winner of the classic Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix races and an Olympic silver medalist in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Trek's move comes nearly a year after a rival American brand, Cannondale, announced that it was taking over the title sponsorship of the Liquigas team for 2013.
