Online retailing for sporting goods and other products continued to grow in Switzerland after the Covid-related spring quarantines, and the same has been happening elsewhere, to judge from recent reports. What’s more, e-commerce is widely expected to be very strong in the pre-Christmas period through events like Singles Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. According to GfK, e-commerce was up by 33.5 percent in July and August in Switzerland as compared to the same months of 2019, and the market research agency is projecting growth of at least 30 percent for the full year. In particular, sales of sporting goods over the internet were up year-on-year by 68.4 percent in the first eight months of 2020, with growth of 79.5 percent in April, 26.9 percent in May, 65.9 percent in June, 49.7 percent in July and 51.1 percent in August.
