A former ice hockey champion who has been focusing on football, Daniel Eppler, is going to run Nike's business in the German-speaking countries from next month on as the new general manager for the region. He will replace Mark Pinger, who is going to take charge of basketball, men's athletic training and tennis for Nike as general manager in Western Europe. Eppler has been acting most recently as Nike's global category sales director for football at the company's world headquarters in Beaverton. After working for UBS and McKinsey for nine years, Eppler joined Nike in 2002 as general manager for football in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He then developed Nike's football business in the Asia-Pacific region before taking on responsibility for the segment on a global basis.
