Helly Hansen has received the prestigious German Design Award in the category Excellent Product Design for the new Odin 3D Air Shell Jacket, which it is launching for summer 2020. In partnership with Norsk Folkehjelp (Norwegian People's Aid), the Norwegian volunteer search and rescue team, the waterproof, windproof, and breathable 2.75-layer shell jacket was developed to meet the demands of the harsh conditions that come naturally in the mountains of Norway. This is Helly Hansen's third German Design Award in five years. In 2015, Helly Hansen convinced the judges with the Ridge Shell Jacket from the ULL freeride collection, and in 2018 with the Ægir H²Flow, a temperature-regulating sailing jacket. Other 2020 winners in the category Sports, Outdoor Activities and Leisure include: Descente (Swiss Ski Replica Lightweight Jacket), Elan Skis (Porsche Design Elan Amphibio), Fliteboard, JuCad (Ghost), PaoFlip, Effektor (4.0 Bike Bip Short), Blackroll (Recovery Pillow), and X-Socks (HeliXcoil Technology).
