New Balance has partnered with Unmade, a provider of fashion customization software, for a shoe called the Unmade x New Balance 111 Knit. On the brand's NB1 customization platform, customers can choose any of three graphic patterns and six colorways, along with some text. The platform will then display the final product in a photorealistic manner. Upon purchase, the design is fed digitally into New Balance's supply chain for manufacture. Unmade's chief executive, Hal Watts, sees his company as providing a way to repair fashion's “broken supply chain” by “connecting demand directly to supply and taking the guesswork out of fashion production.”
