Although it already sponsors a few e-sports teams, Adidas has signed its first sponsorship deal with an individual e-sports athlete: Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja. Blevins is a professional gamer and gaming streamer who raised eyebrows in the videogame world at the start of August by switching his streaming service from Amazon's Twitch – where he was the most-followed streamer – to Microsoft's Mixer. Last year, he signed a deal with Red Bull for its “Rise Till Dawn” event for the Fortnite game. Earlier this year, Electronic Arts reportedly paid him $1 million to promote and stream the game Apex Legends. Blevins' other sponsors include Maxnomic and NZXT. He also has a line of toys. Adidas indicates that is looking for new ways to support the world's 2.3 billion gamers.
