Olympic and four-time NBA champion Tony Parker and two other athletes will promote Alibaba.com’s “Same Player, New Game” campaign for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the B2B e-commerce platform announced on 10 July.
Parker is a two-time Olympian who reached the quarter-finals in men’s basketball with France at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. He is a four-time NBA champion and has been named to the NBA All-Star team six times. However, Parker’s successful career goes beyond his sporting achievements. Since retiring from the game, he has become an entrepreneur and investor who has successfully bridged the gap between sports and business.
Alibaba.com’s campaign aims to raise awareness of the opportunities for athletes and Olympians to transition from sporting success to entrepreneurship. As a global ambassador, Parker will emphasise the benefits of working with Alibaba.com to start one’s own business, build supply chains with buyers and sellers worldwide and promote long-term growth. Joining Parker in the campaign are Simona Galik Moore, a former Women’s Tennis Association pro, and Elias Schwärzler, a mountain biker who has held the Guinness World Record for the “fastest bike pulled by a motorbike” since 2022. Like Parker, they have also achieved success outside of sport. In 2020, Galik Moore founded a professional pickleball brand. Schwärzler is the founder and owner of a brand specializing in mountain bike clothing and a mountain bike academy. Both use Alibaba.com as an integral part of their businesses. Both will be talking more about their journey from sports star to entrepreneur in the run-up to the Games, including at a press event held in Paris on July 31.
