Decathlon France began equipping 62 of its stores with Quadient parcel lockers in 2015. The lockers, where merchandise ordered online is deposited for pickup, are additional customer service. The success of the lockers, tested and certified by the retailer’s teams, has led the sports retailer to expand the partnership, resulting in a plan to equip dozens more stores with its automated parcel lockers before the end of the year.

“Decathlon is accelerating its development of e-commerce through 24-hour delivery across France, drive-thru pickup, rental, second-life, and more, offering ever more innovative pick-up solutions to serve our customers,” said Stéphane Montini, digital transformation director, Decathlon. “Decathlon is adapting to the new habits and needs of customers.”

Decathlon relies on Parcel Pending by Quadient’s smart locker solutions to provide its customers with various pickup options. The locker solutions include in-store models, outdoor units for 24/7 access and Parcel Pending by Quadient’s Lite locker. Lite lockers require no technical support or power for installation and are easy to move, convenient in stores where the layout changes regularly and increases customer satisfaction.

Quadient says its goal is to be a leading provider of open network parcel lockers in key global e-commerce markets. As of January, the end of the company’s fiscal year 2021, more than 15,800 Quadient parcel lockers had been installed worldwide. Decathlon is considering expanding its parcel locker initiatives internationally in the coming months, with two pilot projects already underway. The retailer operates stores in 60 countries.
