“From the beginning, we aimed to integrate eco-friendly solutions in every aspect of the store’s construction,” said Markus Finke, owner of Intersport Finke, emphasizing the importance of sustainability. This includes using recycled materials, energy-efficient LED lighting, and advanced climate control systems.

The new store’s innovative approach reuses materials from previous fittings, with 75 percent of the wood panels recycled into the current design, saving over five tons of CO2 emissions. In addition, the store offers various services like product longevity through repairs, promoting both environmental responsibility and customer satisfaction.

Dr. Alexander von Preen, CEO of Intersport Germany, emphasized that sustainability can bring both environmental and economic benefits. As part of a broader initiative by the company, Intersport aims to become the leading sustainable omnichannel sports retailer by 2030. This project represents an important milestone in achieving this goal and shows how innovation and sustainability can coexist for a greener retail future.

Efficient monitors with low power consumption and a brightness control that is activated at certain times are further examples of the environmentally friendly design of the store.
