21Sportsgroup, the German omni-channel retailer specializing in sports products, is getting a large-scale logistical platform built in Ketsch, near Heidelberg, to support its growth in European markets. The company behind 21run, Vaola and Planet Sports is reportedly investing €25 million in the distribution center, which should cover more than 30,000 square meters and become operational in 2018 with a capacity of more than 17 million packages per year. The distribution center may be enlarged by another 10,000 square meters. Michael Burk, the group's chief executive, said in a statement that the construction in Ketsch underlines its long-term commitment to the Rhein-Neckar area, and the increased capacity should allow the group to expand to more than €500 million in turnover. 21sportsgroup operates with several logistical facilities, but their activities will be gradually centralized. The group sells online, through 14 own stores and its own shopping club, Clubsale. Its most important markets include the German-speaking countries as well as France, Italy, Spain and the Benelux countries.
