A delegation of the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (Fesi) met with Gian-Franco Kasper, the president of the International Ski Federation (FIS), in Brussels on Sept. 6, and agreed on extending the Memorandum of Understanding for World Snow Day, the annual snow festival for children and their families, which is part of the international FIS campaign on “Bring Children to the Snow.” Fesi and Fis intend to widen the scope of the campaign by involving other stakeholders, such as policy-makers and schools, in both discussions and action. The Fesi-Fis meeting had the overall objective to strengthen the alliance of the two organizations in a joint attempt to reverse the decline of winter sports participation in Europe. The partners also agreed to use their networks and expertise for the organization of another European Winter Summit in 2017. The summit is meant to provide a platform to effectively review the difficulties that the European winter sport industry is currently facing. The European delegation at the meeting was composed of Fesi's president, Luca Businaro; its secretary general, Alberto Bichi; Fesi's public policy director, Jerome Pero; and the chairman of Fesi's Ski Committee, René Harrer.
