A list of the factories that make apparel for the Adidas Group shows that it has added one in Myanmar for the first time. Combined with low labor costs, the recent lifting of international sanctions on the country, formerly called Burma, evidently played a role. Some 2,000 workers were reported striking for higher wages at five factories in the country early last month, but the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association has released a first Code of Conduct to attract new orders from abroad. There are more than 270 garment factories in Mynmar, whose clothing exports more than doubled in the last three years to reach a level of about $1.5 billion in 2014.
