On Feb. 1, Olaf de Boer will become the new general manager of Euretco Sport, taking the place of Jan Willem Juffer, who is taking a new position as CEO of ANWB Retail. Euretco Sport is the Dutch franchisee for Intersport and The Athlete’s Foot, and it runs the Runnersworld chain in the country. De Boer has spent 25 years in the the retail sector, most recently as executive director for purchasing and merchandising manager at Jumbo Supermarkets. He started with another Dutch supermarket chain, Albert Heijn. He also worked in the Netherlands and other countries for Ahold, Metro Cash & Carry and Office Depot. Juffer has been running Euretco Sport for 11 years, after working for Perry Sport for nearly four years. ANWR Retail, which has nothing to do with ANWR, holds the Sport 2000 license for Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. It is a Dutch buying group with a web store and 87 affiliated shops selling leisure clothing, travel items and other products to holders of a membership card.
