A new national B2B and B2C trade show, Surf Out Portugal, will make its debut in Portugal on Sept. 15 and 16. It will be held at Estoril near Cascais, the surf spot north of Lisbon. Rusty and Lightning Bolt are mentioned among the 45 exhibitors along with local surf retailers such as 58 Surf and Magic Quiver. Accompanied by conferences on sustainability and other topics, the initiative comes from two brothers, Salvador and Patrick Stilwell, and is supported by companies such as the Portuguese TAP airline and a local Mercedes-Benz dealer. Earlier this year the two brothers founded The Good Swell, a program intended to promote the sport of surfing in Portugal by creating more coordination and synergies among the leading players. According to Boardsportsource, they would like to turn the new show into an international event at a future stage, evidently trying to replicate the former Glissexpo fair on the French Basque Coast.
