Intersport France has launched the project for the establishment of a second logistics platform of 84,000 square meters in the area of Château-Renault in the Loire Valley, in collaboration with local authorities. Scheduled to go on stream in 2024, it would employ about 150 people at the start, growing to 300 at a later stage. Intersport France already has a distribution center of 44,000 sqm. with 300 employees at Vulbas near Lyon. Based on its strategic plan, Intersport France wants to reach a turnover of €3.4 billion for its retail members by 2024. Their sales have grown from €1.2 billion in 2010 to €2.4 billion in 2019. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to the temporary closure of many stores, their turnover declined by 3.7 percent in 2020 in spite of the addition of ten new stores in the course of the year. The network now counts a total of 710 stores, nine more than at the beginning of this year.
