According to SAZ, an executive of Nike is said to be the leading candidate to succeed Frank Dassler of Adidas as the next president of Fesi, the European Sporting Goods Industry Federation, for the next three years. After a meeting of the organization's board of directors last week, officials of Fesi declined any comment until its general assembly in Prague next Oct. 7-8, which will elect the next president. As for Dassler, he is for the moment the only candidate to be the next president of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry at the Ispo show in Munich next January, replacing Motoi Oyama from Asics. Under WFSGI's statutes, the next president must be European. There is nothing in Fesi's statutes about the nationality of the company to which its president belongs. The same applies to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA, or former SGMA) in the U.S., which is led by an executive from Mizuno.
