Adidas is tackling an issue that has thankfully been de-tabooed in recent years: menstruating women in sports. With its new TechFit Period Proof tights and shorts, the German company now offers training pants that provide an extra layer of safety against menstrual blood leakage. The two styles incorporate Adidas’ Flow Shield – a three-layer liner that absorbs and wicks moisture. The face of the new “Stay in Play” campaign is Tokyo Games silver medalist Mirabai Chanu. “Adidas found that teenage girls are dropping out of sport at an alarming rate, with one of the key reasons being fear of period leakage,” she said. The goal of the new offering is to keep women in sports by giving them the confidence to work out during their period.
