Adidas announced on May 19 that it will begin selling some Adidas Yeezy products from its inventory. An initial sale is expected to take place at the end of May 2023. Several existing designs will be available exclusively through adidas.com/yeezy and the Adidas Confirmed app. As previously reported, the company plans to donate “a significant amount” to select organizations that work to combat discrimination and hate, including racism and anti-Semitism. These include the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change, among others.
This is the first time the products will be available to customers again since Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye West (“Ye”) in October 2022. The products are existing designs and designs that were developed in 2022 for sale in 2023. The company is currently evaluating if and when Adidas will launch additional products from its inventory. Today’s announcement has no immediate impact on the company’s current financial guidance for 2023.
Bjørn Gulden, CEO of Adidas, said, “After careful consideration, we have decided to start selling some of the remaining Adidas Yeezy products. Sell and donate was the preferred option for all organizations and stakeholders. We believe this is the best solution as it values the designs created and shoes produced, works for our employees*, solves an inventory problem and will positively impact our communities. Hate of any kind has no place in sports or society, and we remain committed to fighting it.”
