Adidas France is to transfer its French head office to Strasbourg toward the end of 2017, in the new business area of Wacken. It will thus leave the village of Landersheim near Saverne, where it was established in 1973. Despite repeated renovations, the office complex was apparently no longer suitable. It was built around the Auberge au Kochersberg, a hunting lodge that turned into an exquisite restaurant and hotel, hosting athletes and sports officials from around the world until the late 'eighties. French newspapers reported that the Adidas Group considered moving the French office to Paris, where it already has a satellite office, but the French management and the local authorities made arrangements to prevent a move away from the Alsace. Adidas has been there since 1958, drawn by the local shoe industry. Adidas France described the move to Strasbourg as a p ositive outcome for the 200 employees.
