Adidas has inked a five-year agreement with Louisiana Tech University Athletics to outfit its 16 men's and women's teams in Adidas uniforms, apparel, footwear and equipment through the 2021-22 season. The partnership starts in July, except for women's basketball because that team has one year left on a deal with Under Armour. Adidas is taking over from several brands sponsoring different teams, from Nike to Under Armour and New Balance. Separately, Adidas has reached an agreement to continue its partnership with North Carolina State. Adidas will guarantee the university at least $6.45 million per year in retail product and financial considerations to the Department of Athletics, more than doubling the value of the current contract. Running from July 2016 until June 2022, the deal calls for Adidas to provide uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment to 23 varsity programs. Other U.S. schools that currently have deals with Adidas include Arizona State, Miami, Indiana, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and UCLA. The brand recently lost its partnerships with Notre Dame to Under Armour and Tennessee to Nike, while Michigan is switching from Adidas to Nike next year.
