Adidas is said to be close to signing a record-breaking €1.1 billion sponsorship contract with the Real Madrid club for the next ten years. The deal would guarantee a minimum of €110 million per year, up strongly from the current fee of €38.7 million and way above the €85 million fee that it is paying for Manchester United. It would compare with the €83 million annual fee that Nike is paying to FC Barcelona, although that contract includes incentives that can raise the sum to €155 million. Meanwhile, Adidas is reportedly negotiating to become the sponsor of first-division Italian team in Naples before the expiration of its contract with Kappa. In Italy, Adidas continues to be the sponsor of Juventus, but let its contract with AC Milan go to Puma.
