Adidas its set to take over the sponsorship of the English Arsenal team from Puma, which has just signed to sponsor Manchester City, the current champion in the Premier League, for £50 million (€56m-$64m) annually after its contract with Nike expires in June 2019. The Big a is said to have agreed to pay Arsenal £60 million (€67m-$76m) for the next five years, about double what Puma has been paying under a contract that will end after the current season. Basically, Adidas would be paying annually for Arsenal about as much as Nike is paying for Chelsea, its former sports property, and a lot less than its contract for Manchester United, valued at £75 million (€84m-$95m) a year.
