Celebrating the venerated terrace wear of the late 80s and early 90s, Adidas and Manchester United have unveiled the Man Utd x Originals collection, which revisits popular pieces from the Adidas archive and integrates them into today’s soccer culture. Evoking a sense of nostalgia, the collection aims to capture the spirit of “away day” and the unconditional devotion of fans who traveled to follow the team during the notable 1988-1990 seasons. Alluding to the now iconic design DNA of the era, the nine-piece collection features a reimagining of the famous Legacy pieces, as well as a range of memorabilia including a hoodie, T-shirts and a bench jacket.
An animated version of Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez wearing the new Man Utd x Originals third jersey will appear on the cover of the United We Stand fanzine this month.
The Man Utd x Originals collection will be available on adidas.com and at other retailers from May 15.
