The Paris City Council has decided that the new sports arena at Porte de la Chapelle, in the north of the city, will bear the name of the German sportswear giant. Following the signature of the naming contract between Société Anonyme d’Exploitation du Palais Omnisport de Paris-Bercy (SAE POBP) and Adidas, the new venue will be called Adidas Arena. The facility, which is being built in view of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is set to be completed by summer 2023. The 9,000-seat venue will host the badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, para-badminton and para-weightlifting events of the 2024 Games. The new arena is also meant to promote the development of the Porte de la Chapelle neighborhood, with sporting and cultural events open to residents as well as shops and restaurants open all year round.
