After intense lobbying by the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (Fesi), the European Parliament has set up a formal “Intergroup” on sport, taking the place of an informal group that has been operating for several years. It is one of 28 Intergroups that will carry out the debate until 2019 in specific sectors considered to be sufficiently relevant by the members of the Parliament. The European Fishing Tackle Industry Association (Effta) did not convince them to set up an Intergroup on recreational fishing, but succeeded in setting up an informal discussion group called the Aquatic, Environment and Recreational Fisheries Group.
