After record sales in the first three months of 2016, April presented a setback for sporting goods sales in Sweden, reducing the cumulative growth of the market to 2.5 percent for the first four months of the year. The year started well, with January's sporting goods sales rising by 15.0 percent as compared to the same month of 2015. February was almost as good with growth of 14.4 percent and March sales went up by11.3 percent. The fun ended in April, however. According to the HUI research institute, sales of sporting goods fell by 4.2 percent in April, which was the worst result in the entire retail sector. Worth noting is that the Easter holiday took place in April last year and in March this year.
