After shaky sales in August, the turnover of Swedish sporting goods retailers bounced back in September, rising by 2.2 percent against the same month last year. The cumulative sales for the first nine months of 2013 still show a drop of 0.2 percent as compared to the same period of 2012. According to the Swedish HUI research institute, the outlook for the year is a two percent increase for retail sales as a whole in Sweden. Three quarters into the year, total sales have risen by only 1.5 percent, but consumer confidence is heading in the right direction and there are several positive signals from around the globe.
