Alpargatas is going to take over the distribution of Mizuno in Argentina, from next February, and it has already started to take orders for the brand in the country. Alpargatas has already been quite successful with the Japanese brand in Brazil, particularly in the running segment. The Brazilian group, which is featured in the athetic footwear chart in this issue, is also the distributor of Timberland in Brazil, and it owns two brands of sports shoes, Topper and Reinha. Topper recently opened its 19th store in Argentina, which is also the first one to be located in a shopping mall, the sprawling Unicentro of Buenos Aires. Topper, which sponsored the Brazilian football team between 1986 and 1990, before Umbro and Nike, is launching a vintage collection in October. Reinha will come out with a lot of novelties in 2012.
