Amazon said it wants to significantly increase its investment in India by 2030. After CEO Andy Jassy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the U.S. last week, Jassy said he wants to put $26 billion into the country, adding $6.5 billion to planned new investments. An exact breakdown of the sum was not disclosed; however, the announcement followed a statement last month by Amazon’s cloud computing unit Amazon Web Services that it plans to invest $12.9 billion in India by the end of 2030. Previously, Amazon had already announced a $6.5 billion investment plan, primarily to boost its e-commerce business in the country.
