With an interesting roster of keynote speakers and topics, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), owner of the Higg Index platform, is inviting members and non-members to its 2022 annual meeting that will take place in Singapore on Nov. 1 and 2. Themed around ”Collective Action on Common Ground,” the event aims to establish common ground amongst different perspectives to promote solutions and drive progress on environmental and social issues, as the coalition states. Singapore has been chosen in recognition of the importance the region has in driving and sustaining the apparel and footwear industry.

The initiative that unites brands and retailers globally has already released some details of the agenda, including Tonje Drevland, head of section of the Norwegian Consumer Authority that has made headlines with challenging Norrøna and H&M for the marketing use of sustainability information derived from the Higg Index ratings of its products. Other speakers already announced are Edwin Keh, CEO of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA); and Ipek Kurtoglu Firat, global product impact lead at H&M.

The annual SAC meeting aims to bring brands, retailers, manufacturers, NGOs, academics and industry associations together to drive progress on sustainability issues, including eco-labeling, ensuring a just transition and responsible purchasing practices.
