Anta Sports Products Limited, owner of companies Fila, Descente and the Amer Sports group, including Atomic, Arc’teryx, Salomon and others, besides its own Anta brand, has published the 2022 ESG report for Anta that touches a broad range of operational and financial topics on 132 pages. The report covers the company‘s ESG performance and practices across all its operations (including branding, production, design, procurement, supply chain management, wholesale and retail of branded sporting goods) in principal places of business across China in the last calendar year.
In his foreword, chairman Ding Shizhong gives an overview of 2022, which challenged the company with “a turbulent global situation, escalating geopolitical risks, instability in international supply chains, unpredictable fluctuations of the pandemic, more frequent and severe impacts from extreme climate, and increasingly stringent legal and regulatory requirements.”
In 2022, Anta Sports established a new sustainability committee to ensure governance-level participation in sustainability issues. They adopted the core company values of “mutualism with consumers, mutualism with partners, mutualism with employees, mutualism with the society, and mutualism with the environment.” Besides working out its own agenda, Anta has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative and pledged support to the ten principles of the UNGC. The company is also committed to realizing 17 SDGs of the United Nations (UN). It is also working on gradually reducing and ultimately fading out the use of harmful or restricted chemicals in its clothing and footwear. In 2022, Anta became a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC).
Amer Sports brands are not included in the ESG report and are managing their brands’ reporting independently (for an overview, visit the dedicated website here).
