Swiss specialty chemicals provider Archroma, based in Pratteln, has added two new metal-free and acid-free acid dyes into its Nylosan S range. Nylosan Navy S-3R and Black S-3N were specially developed for polyamides and blends, polymers that require a complex dyeing process that is energy and water-consuming. According to the company, the new black dye makes dyeing a metal-free black on polyamide possible for the first time. Both new chemicals are Bluesign-approved and reduce the processing time by up to 36 percent, water consumption by up to 65 percent, energy by up to 46 percent and CO2 emissions by up to 41 percent, compared to conventional benchmark dyeing processes. The new color dyes are integrated into the “Consciously Deep” range of Archroma chemicals that are used with an efficient scour dyeing process, reducing the process from six to two baths.
