Arena has decided to introduce a new generation of Powerski Carbon-Pro swimsuits following a request last February by Fina, the international authority for water sports, to comply with its regulations for racing models used in its competitions. The Italian company says it launched a new series of quality control checks which showed that all the raw materials used in its suits complied with Fina's rules. They also showed that a change in the manufacturing process, introduced to respond to a significant surge in market demand, may have caused an unintended and unexpected reduction in the air permeability of some of the racing suits produced between the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013. Arena stressed that the anomaly had absolutely no impact on the safety or performance of the products, but has already started to deliver a new Mark 2 version of the suits to teams and individual swimmers in view of the forthcoming Fina events. New approval codes have been posted on the fina.org website for the compliant suits.
