Arklyz, the owner since 2021 of The Athlete’s Foot, the sports lifestyle footwear banner previously owned by Intersport International (IIC), has added Asphaltgold, a European omnichannel provider of high-end sneakers and streetwear based in Darmstadt, Germany, to its portfolio.
“The acquisition of Asphaltgold was a very strategic decision for us,“ said the owner and CEO of Arklyz, Param Singh. “Asphaltgold’s digital-first approach led by story-telling through social media platforms to build community, combined with top-tier access on all relevant sneaker and streetwear brands, is highly attractive for Arklyz’s future expansion plans.”
Daniel Benz, the CEO of Asphaltgold, who founded the company in 2008, said he was excited “to join forces with such a strategically strong partner as Arklyz, and I am looking forward to jointly creating continued growth and success for Asphaltgold.”
Following the acquisition of The Athlete’s Foot in 2021, the Asphaltgold acquisition marks the next step in Switzerland-based Arklyz’s growth ambitions. Under Arklyz’s leadership, Asphaltgold will continue to operate its online retail platform and retail stores while leveraging Arklyz’s global operating experience and infrastructure in the sports, lifestyle, athleisure and workwear product areas, as well as its brand management, distribution, retail and e-commerce, and manufacturing businesses to grow the business.
Among Asphaltgold’s regular highlights are exclusive collaborations with partners such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance and various cross-industry brands such as Leica, Vitra and Smart. The acquisition is effective immediately. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
