As of last month, 42 retailers had adopted the new SportXtreme concept proposed by the GMS buying group at the beginning of this year. Thirteen have signed contracts with GMS in Germany, eight in Austria and 21 in the Netherlands. One Dutch store has already been renovated based on the corporate design of SportXtreme and four stores in Germany are currently preparing for conversion. SportXtreme concentrates on retail specialists in six segments: outdoor, team sports, running, golf, water sports and winter sports. The concept created by GMS offers centralized settlements, business consulting, financial support and proposes a strategy for commercialization and marketing. Retailers receive point of sale support, a “style guide” for the renovation of their stores and a nationwide communication package, including public relations, charity campaigns and direct marketing activities.
