As part of its decision to focus on its fashion and living segments, Macintosh Retail Group is seeking a buyer for its Halfords business, which includes bicycles, car and bicycle accessories, and navigation equipment. In September, Macintosh will issue an information memorandum to interested parties, and then choose potential buyers from among the bids received. It hopes to close the deal by the end of 2011. CDI Global of Amsterdam is helping Macintosh with the sale. Macintosh Retail Group's sale of BelCompany, the telecom retailer, to Vodafone Libertel for €120 million has been approved by competition authorities and will be finalized soon. The proceeds from the BelCompany sale and the expected Halfords sale will be used to expand in fashion and living, including acquisitions and new store formats and product brands. It has recently bought Scapino, Brantano and Jones Bootmaker as part of this expansion.
