As predicted, Denver has won the race to replace Salt Lake City after 22 years as the host of both the winter and summer editions of the Outdoor Retailer trade show between 2018 and 2022. The outdoor industry asked for a new venue with similar access to the mountains after the state of Utah reversed President Obama's designation of the Bears Ears area as public land. As previously reported, the organizer of OR, Emerald Expositions, had already signed a contract with Denver to hold the winter edition of OR next Jan. 25-28 in combination with the former SIA snow show. This will make it tough for some exhibitors and visitors, as Ispo Beijng is set to run from Ja. 24 to 27 and Ispo Munich from Jan. 28 to 31. Denver will also host the OR Summer Market from July 23 to 26, 2018. A new trade show for the sports softgoods segment of the industry should also be held there in November 2018.
