Asics helped its sponsored athletes at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, which ended on Oct. 6, to cope with intense heat during the competition. Prior to the start of the championships, the brand had unveiled an advanced apparel technology with knowledge of thermal body mapping, designed to help athletes perform at their best even in intense heat. Athletes from six federations, sponsored by Asics, wore the new apparel at the championships, including Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Ukraine and Bulgaria. The technology in the new apparel, developed at the Asics Institute of Sport Science in Kobe, Japan, uses knowledge of thermal body mapping and applies water-repellent material in essential parts of the running suits, to offer a lighter and less sticky feel.
