Asics has launched the new Actibreeze™ 3D sandal, an innovative 3D-printed sandal designed to support the “body and mind recovery” of athletes in the after-performance phase. The new sandal features a novel geometric structure made possible by a parametric design process and 3D printing. Other key design elements include a thick, open grid structure. This formation provides excellent cooling and breathability, according to Asics. According to the manufacturer, the sandal has been proven to keep temperature and moisture levels on the foot lower than other recovery sandals currently on the market. The sandal’s extra-wide base provides a soft, stable platform. The Actibreeze 3D sandal was first introduced at the Oregon 2022 World Athletics Championships, where it was worn by athletes such as Valarie Allman, Eiki Takahashi and Mohamed Katir. It has been available in stores in many countries and online at asics.com since July 17. However, several media outlets have reported that the sandal sold out shortly after its release. In fact, the sandal, which was originally offered for $130, is currently apparently only available for three times that price on StockX.
