Assosport is taking issue with a ban imposed by the International Ski Federation (FIS) on the use by ski professionals in its competitions of innovative products such as the airbag developed by Dainese or the ABS helmet of Briko. The reasons are apparently the fact that only the athletes sponsored by Dainese can wear its protection devices and that ski helmets cannot be fitted with outer devices such as the action camera used by Lindsay Vonn in a recent race. Luca Businaro, president of the Italian sporting goods industry association, criticized the FIS' measures, arguing that they put a break on R&D efforts and endanger the safety of the athletes.
