Assosport, the Italian sporting goods industry association, held a seminar entitled “Sport Industry: The Italian Excellence” in South Korea on the occasion of the 23rd Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. The seminar, which was organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), took place at Casa Italia, the headquarters of the Italian delegation at the Games. Four Italian firms were present at the event: Tecnica Group, Ferrino, Scarpa, and Briko. The objective of the seminar was to present Italian companies to Korean buyers and to the press. There are around 2.5 million skiers in South Korea, according to the data released by Assosport, and Italian firms are increasingly investing in Asia. Business development there is focusing especially on products for snow and outdoor sports. Asia also offers great potential in view of the Olympics. Tokyo will host the Summer Games, in 2020, while Beijing will host the next Winter Olympics, in 2022.
