BasicNet nearly halved its 2010 net profit to €8.5 million from 16.5 million a year earlier despite stronger, sales as operating profits were hit by the company's decision to step up its investments, which were €10 million higher than a year earlier, and to limit price increases in order to boost its market share, in spite of higher production costs and a stronger dollar. As previously reported, group sales rose to €165 million from €155 million. The Italian company slashed the dividend payment to €0.05 per share from €0.165 a year earlier. Since the beginning of this year, BasicNet has opened four RdK stores and three Superga shops. At the end of 2010, the group had 189 mono-brand stores, 28 of which were managed by the group.
