Bauer Performance Sports saw its sales rise by 13 percent to $62.2 million in the third quarter ended Feb. 28, or up by 16 percent in constant currencies, with increases of 17 percent in helmets, 49 percent in sticks, 11 percent in lacrosse and 77 percent in apparel. Sales grew by 17 percent in North America but only by one percent elsewhere. The gross margin improved by 3.5 percentage points to 30.3 percent. Adjusted for extraordinary items, the company's net loss for the period remained essentially flat at $4.2 million. The company's $330 million acquisition of Easton's baseball and softball business should be accretive to Bauer's earnings from the first year.
