Bench, which is now run by Bruno Salzer out of its Munich office, has cut by half the team at its head office in Manchester, previously made up of 120 people, and expanded operations in Germany. Roles across various areas, among which are “design and communication” and other important functions, have been shifted from the U.K. to the brand's office in Munich as a result of the growing importance of the continental European markets for the brand. Bench's team in Munich has now grown from 40 to 90 people. Details of the specific roles that have been moved from the U.K. to Germany have not been disclosed, but the company announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer, Thomas Wölfle, who previously worked in the automotive sector. The company said that the process toward expanding the Munich operations as a second headquarters of the company is nearly complete.
