Bernd Kullmann, former chief executive at Deuter, made an impassioned plea for more women to take the lead at outdoor companies, as he handed this year's Ispo Cup to Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, a famous Austrian mountaineer. She is the first woman to have climbed all 14 peaks of more than 8,000 meters without extra oxygen supplies or high altitude porters. Kaltenbrunner was also praised for her steadfast support for the development of schools, orphanages and health posts in Nepal, among other aid projects and social commitments.
