The supervisory board of the Adidas Group has recommended the election of Thomas Rabe, who has been the chairman and chief executive of Bertelsmann since 2012, as its new chairman at the company’s annual meeting on May 9. Bertelsmann is a global German media, education and service group whose Ebitda margin rose to 14.6 percent on revenues of €17.7 billion in 2018. The margin further improved to 15.0 percent in the first half of last year. Rabe, 54, has been an active member of Adidas’ supervisory board since the May 2019 annual meeting. If elected to the new role, Rabe will take the place of Igor Landau, who already indicated his desire to put an end to his mandate last May. Landau, who is now 75 years old, has been a member of Adidas’ supervisory board since 2004 and its chairman since 2019. Under his chairmanship, the company’s market capitalization has risen from €5 billion to just under €57 billion.
