The Iberian Sports Retail Group (ISRG), which is controlled by JD Sports Fashion, is contemplating a strong development of its physical store network, accompanying its push into e-commerce through its recent acquisition of Deporvillage and the local web stores of JD Sports and Sprinter. Sprinter, the more technical sporting goods retail chain of the group, is set to open ten more stores in Spain until the end of the year after five openings in the first nine months of 2021, taking the total door count up to 190 units, and to add 25 more units in 2022. The more lifestyle-oriented JD Sports chain will have added a dozen new stores in Spain in the course of this year, five of them in the city of Valencia. It currently has 70 stores in Spain. JD also has six stores in the Canary Islands, complementing ISRG’s 17 SportZone units in the territory, and 22 in Portugal, complementing SportZone’s 89 units in the country. ISRG also operates one Size? store in Spain and supervises 80 Perry Sport and Aktiesport stores in the Netherlands. Adding them, the group comprises a total of 465 points of sale.
